【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesameansofmeasuringavarietyoffire-test-responsecharacteristicsresultingfromburningastackoffivestackingchairs.Afterignitionusingapropanegasburner,thetestspecimenispermittedtoburnfreelyunderwell-ventilatedconditions.Themostimportantfire-test-responsecharacteristicmeasuredinthistestmethodistherateofheatrelease,whichquantifiestheintensityofthefiregenerated.Therateofheatreleaseismeasuredbytheprincipleofoxygenconsumption.AnnexA3discussestheassumptionsandlimitations.Thistestmethodalsoprovidesmeasuresofotherfire-test-responsecharacteristics,includingsmokeobscuration(astherateofsmokerelease,totalsmokereleasedoropticaldensityofsmoke),combustiongasrelease(asconcentrationsofcombustiongases),andmassloss,thatareimportanttomakingdecisionsonfiresafety.Inthemajorityoffires,themostimportantgaseouscomponentsofsmokearethecarbonoxidespresentinallfires.Theyareindicatorsofthetoxicityoftheatmosphereandofthecompletenessofcombustion.Measurementofconcentrationsofcarbonoxidesareusefulfortwopurposes:aspartoffirehazardassessmentcalculationsandtoimprovetheaccuracyofheat-releasemeasurements.Othertoxiccombustiongases,whicharespecifictocertainmaterials,arealsoindicatorsofthetoxicityoftheatmospheres,butarelesscrucialfordeterminingcombustioncompletenessandareoptionalmeasures;howeverfirehazardassessmentoftenrequirestheirmeasurement.Thetypeofignitionchosen(flamingsource)iscommoninbothaccidentalandintentionalfiresinpublicoccupancies.Thistestmethodisthusapplicabletostackedchairsinpublicoccupancies.Suchfacilitiesinclude,butarenotlimitedto,health-carefacilities,old-ageconvalescentandboardandcarehomes,collegedormitoriesandresidencehalls,andhotelsandmotels.Oneofthefollowingthreeconfigurationsistobeusedinthistestmethod:TestConfigurationA8212;Atestroomwiththefollowingdimensions:3.66by2.44by2.44mhigh(12by8by8ft).TestConfigurationB8212;Atestroomwiththefollowingdimensions:3.66by3.05by2.44mhigh(12by10by8ft).TestConfigurationC8212;Anopencalorimeter(orfurniturecalorimeter).Roomsofotherdimensionsareacceptablewhereithasbeenshownthatequivalenttestresultsareobtained.Measurementsinthethreetestconfigurationslistedin5.6havebeenshowntogivesimilarresultsforheatreleaseintheductandmasslossuptoarateofheatreleaseof600kW(1).Measurementsoftemperatures,gasconcentrations,andsmokeobscurationintheroomaredependentonroomsize.Studiesontheflammabilityperformanceoffurnitureindicatethatbench-scalefiretestsareusefulforpreliminaryevaluationsofcomponentmaterialsforsubstitutionpurposes(seeAppendixX2).Limitations:Thistestmethodisnotapplicabletoignitionbycigarettesorbyanyothersmolderingsource.Theignitionsourceinthistestmethodisaflamingsource.Moreover,thisparticularignitionsourcehasbeenshowntobeabletoprovideadistinctionamongdifferentkindsofstackedchairs.However,thefractionofactualflamingstackedchairfiresoccurringwithignitionsmoreorlessintensethanthatusedhereisnotknown.Itisnotknownwhethertheresultsofthistestmethodwillbeequallyvalidwhenstackingchairsareburnedunderconditionsdifferentfromthosespecified.Inparticular,itisunclearwhethertheuseofadifferen.........
