【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofsolublesulfateionspresentinwaterorafiltratebymeansofaphotometermeasuringtheturbidityofprecipitatedbariumsulfate.Amethodofstandardizingthephotometerforthistestmethodisalsogiven.1.2Solublesulfateionsmayberemovedfromclaysorclay-waterslurriesbyleachingwithwaterduringmixingandsubsequentfilterpressing.Toremoveallthesulfateionswouldrequireanimpracticalnumberofwashings;therefore,thistestmethodshouldbeconsideredacontroltestandnotaquantitativeanalysisforSO4ions.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
